0Into the 21st Century With Ancient Values

danny_vertical_tileaf_mug.jpgAloha, welcome to Kahiko (ancient) Connection, an experiment in sharing the thought of Danny "Kaniela" Akaka and his scribe Leilani Hino through the convergence of 21st Century technology and the ages-old dynamic between an oral historian and his scribe.  We're working toward a content-rich virtual hālau (meeting house) where we hope you'll find interesting food for thought to chew over and enjoy.

We're committed to living and perpetuating the values and traditions of Hawai'i so they work with the 21st Century. This site contains some of Danny's mea 'ai mama (food to chew on) -- the kind Danny would tell you if you "talk story" with him -- a Kahiko Connection.

At the bottom of each page are audio files you can access to hear the pronunciation of Hawaiian words. The files, like the rest of the site, are an ongoing collection process, and are far from complete.  But we're always working on it!
